Way Down South in Dixie

Summertime for a wedding photographer can be CRAZY busy, but even with a non-stop, busy schedule I generally try to take a little time here and there for family time, fun adventures and opportunities to reconnect with J away from editing and emails. And so this month, after he returned from his research trip, we took a few days to celebrate our engagement! We started with family time in Utica, welcomed home my little sister and her husband from their year in India, hosted an engagement/welcome home Sarah and Anthony BBQ for neighbors and friends, and then road-tripped to visit my college friend Megan. She’ll be the girl behind the camera on our wedding day and so of course we were super excited to have our engagement photos taken while we were there–with the added bonus of meeting her sweet husband and their pup Poa. We even managed to sneak in a bit of camping in the Shenendoahs on our way back (and didn’t get eaten by bears–yay!). SO happy we were able to take a few days away from it all before heading back to work, and missing the smell of campfires already <3

Jesse and I love taking road trips, and this time the pups were able to come too! <3

Megan and Brendan took SUCH good care of us while we were in Charlotte–and showed us some of the sweetest restaurants!

Of course we fell in love with Poa instantly.
