I live in upstate New York with my husband Jesse and our two ridiculous(ly adorable) Australian shepherds and have called Syracuse home for more than 10 years. I fell in love with this city when I first came here for school, and after completing my undergrad at Newhouse (with a degree in photography and French—c’est vrais!) I was so smitten, I stayed. Fresh out of college, I started a job at a marketing firm, and it was years before photography found me again. It was in the noise of daily life, where everything seems to be constantly busier, faster, and always, always, more, that I knew I was missing something.
Photography, for me, has always been a way to slow down time, and press pause for a moment, and it was while I was photographing my first wedding that it all fell into place for me. Beyond all of the noise and business of life, for that one day everything came down to this: that two people had found each other, had fallen in love, and were there that day to promise themselves to each other. To me, it was beautiful, and I knew I had to be a part of it. I wanted to be the one who was there to capture it all. The big things, the little things, and all the in-between things that would tell the story not just of their day, but the story of the start of their new life together too. I knew I had found what I was meant to do.
My style is simple and sweet, and behind the camera I’m all about soft beautiful light and shallow depth of field. Behind each of my couples, and behind every wedding I photograph, there’s a unique story, and that’s what I strive to capture. The guys and gals that find me often share my passion for beautiful honest-to-goodness-real-life imagery and story telling—for them, the most important thing is capturing the day as it happens—with smiles and tears, sunshine or showers, but most importantly, and always, with love.
