Agatha + Matt // Married

Many of the "firsts" we mark in life are joyous and wonderful experiences--and so this "first" for me, the first wedding I had the pleasure of photographing in 2015, was all of that and more.Agatha and I first met in college, and I still remember the first date she and Matt went on. How she recounted (as I crammed strawberry and whipped cream waffles in my mouth at breakfast) to our girlfriends the details of the night before, and how this gorgeous guy (with his gorgeous eyes) was just so. wonderful. We studied together in France, and traveled to Paris and Nice together before returning to Syracuse, where we graduated side by side with our other Newhouse classmates. In the end, she left "the hill" for New York and PR, and through it all she had Matt. Though they lived in different cities during our post-college years, they saw each other often, and when they were visiting Paris together last year, he popped the question and they began planning their lives together.I cried (again. I had already misted up once when I saw the announcement on Facebook!) when she called me and told me about their plans and I sat on our front porch sketching out their wedding day timeline with them.A year later, and the day had arrived. Misty and rainy and perfectly romantic. Raindrops hung from the wildflowers at the front of the Fontainebleau Inn but skies cleared as guests made their way to the chapel in the woods. It was a perfect day in every way, and a bad time to forget the waterproof mascara.A day or two into their honeymoon, Agatha sent a note, requesting a favorite memory from their wedding to help them relive the experience. I've saved mine until now:1) Seeing Ag in her dress for the first time, as a gorgeous bride2) Watching Matt tie his bow tie approximately half a dozen times (excitement doesn't make the process easier I think... ;)3) Agatha coming down the aisle, and the huge smile on Matt's face4) The newlyweds braving raindrops (and then downpours and muddy slopes post-showers) for some of my favorite photos5) Susie's surprise Polish wedding ceremony traditions during the toast6) An air guitar father-daughter dance ('nuff said)7) A personal favorite when I put my camera down: dancing with my soon-to-be (the next day!) fiancé to our favorite song, and Agatha's comment later upon hearing the announcement8) The toast given by her French host mother from our time together in Strasbourg--that brought everyone, English and French speakers alike, to tears9) The fact that one of my favorite ladies found the man of her dreams all those years ago, and that they're building their lives together with so many beautiful experiences already behind them--and even more to come. Many congrats my gorgeous girl. I'm so beyond thrilled that Jesse and I could share the day with you and Matt, and I wish you so much happiness in the years to come. Matt--my most sincere thanks for making Agatha make all of her happy faces on her wedding day (a few samples follow below ;). The joy you both bring each other is a beautiful thing to see, and I'm so excited for what lies ahead for both of you. Here are some of my favorites from your wedding day. <3
